New Java 8 Courses
The eighth standard edition of the Java language, finalized earlier this year, will have the greatest impact on programming practice since Java 5 brought us generics, auto-boxing, and annotations. The functional programming style characterized by Java-8 lambda expressions and the java.util.Stream API will ripple through Java EE standards and open-source frameworks for some time to come, and offers new design and implementation strategies to application developers as well.
Today Capstone releases Java-8 updates to its most heavily-used Java SE courses, with new emphasis on this functional style:
-
Course 103, Java Programming , offers expanded coverage of local and anonymous classes and new chapters on functional interfaces, lambda expressions, method references, and the Stream processing API.
- The sequence of Course 102, Introduction to Java Programming, and Course 104, Intermediate Java Programming, sees similar changes.
- Especially for experienced Java programmers who want to learn about Java 8, we've built Course 105, Migrating to Java 8, as a fast-paced, one-day course covering the aforementioned functional-programming topics and also the new Time API.
All courses are built for Oracle's JDK 8 and Eclipse Luna, and support both command-line and Eclipse usage on both Windows and Mac OS, and all are available immediately.
