If the course you are setting up requires EclipseIndigo_JBoss 2.3.0, follow these instructions to set it up on the student and instructor machines. If you have questions, please contact your courseware vendor.

First, click the link below and choose one of the Windows download links for Eclipse Indigo for Java EE Developers:

Eclipse Indigo for Java EE Developers

Unzip the archive to the c:\ root: this will create a tree of files in c:\eclipse.

Run c:\eclipse\eclipse.exe; you'll see the splash screen, and then a dialog asking you to select a workspace. Just leave the default and click OK.

Eclipse will start and you'll see the full layout of the IDE. Choose File | New | Other ... from the top-level menu. You'll see a dialog box with a list of folders and options for things to create.

Choose the Server folder, and under it the Server item, and click Next. You'll see a dialog for creating a server profile, with a list of supported servers.

If in this list you see a JBoss folder with options including "JBoss AS 5.1" and "JBoss AS 6.x" ... you're done! Close Eclipse, and skip all remaining steps.

Otherwise, click the link in the upper-right corner, Download additional server adapters, and a third dialog will appear, with a list of plugins that will be populated over the next few seconds or minutes as Eclipse searches the Internet.

Choose JBoss Server Tools: first, you'll see a message below the main listbox, "Calculating requirements and dependencies," and a progress bar. Then you will see a summary blurb about the Eclipse plugin you are about to install.

Click Next, and see a license agreement.

Accept the agreement and click Finish. You'll see a confirmation message.

Click OK, and the installation will begin. you'll see a message box titled "Installing JBoss Server Tools," with text, "Operation in progress" and a progress bar.

When the installation completes, all the dialogs will disappear and you'll see a message box prompting you to restart Eclipse.

Click Restart now. Eclipse will shut down and restart. If the restart fails, just start it manually as you did earlier. Again choose the default workspace.

To test the installation, again choose File | New | Other ... from the top-level menu, choose Server / Server and click Next. Now, in the new-server dialog, you should now see a new folder JBoss, with options including "JBoss AS 5.1" and "JBoss AS 6.x".

You don't need to create a server profile, as our workspaces have one built in. But your Eclipse installation is now ready to support those workspaces! So just cancel out and close Eclipse.
